Wealth Management in Richmond for $500,000+ Portfolios

Kuzyk Private Wealth is an independent wealth management team at Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc., a CIRO member firm and member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. Led by Phil Kuzyk, FCSI, the team serves Richmond business families, professionals and retirees with $500,000 or more in investable assets who want investment management, retirement income, tax planning and succession handled as one coordinated strategy.

Who we work with in Richmond

Richmond’s wealth is unusually entrepreneurial. Family-run companies in trade, logistics and services around the airport, professional practices in City Centre, and long-held real estate from Steveston to Broadmoor all create planning needs that a standard bank appointment rarely covers:

  • Family business owners planning succession. Passing a company to children, selling to a partner or preparing for an outside sale each carry different tax and family consequences. We help owners plan the wealth side of that transition years before it happens.
  • Households whose net worth is concentrated in real estate. Rental holdings and appreciated property create strong balance sheets but modest liquid income. We help families build the investment side so retirement does not depend on selling property at the wrong time.
  • Professionals and incorporated specialists with corporate cash to invest and a preference for coordinated, tax-aware management across corporate and personal accounts.
  • Multi-generational families who want parents’ retirement security, children’s futures and the eventual estate considered together, often with more than one generation at the table.

How we help

We build and manage the full picture, coordinating with your accountant and lawyer where their expertise is needed:

  • Investment management. Portfolios matched to your goals and risk capacity across personal, corporate and trust accounts. Through Harbourfront’s independent platform, qualifying clients can also access structured notes and private market strategies, where suitable.
  • Business succession and sale planning. The wealth decisions around a transition: how sale proceeds should be structured and invested, what income they need to produce and how the lifetime capital gains exemption fits your situation.
  • Retirement income planning. Turning a lifetime of business income, rental income and savings into dependable, tax-aware retirement cash flow.
  • Estate and legacy planning. Coordinating wills, corporate structures, beneficiary designations and insurance so wealth transfers the way the family intends.

How we start with a new family

Trust is earned in steps, especially when a family business is involved. Our process reflects that:

  1. Introductory call, 20 minutes. You explain your situation, we explain how the team works and what it costs. No obligation, and no documents required.
  2. Discovery meeting. The full family picture: the company, properties, personal and corporate accounts, and what the next ten to twenty years should look like.
  3. Written plan and proposal. Where the family stands, what we would change and why, and our fee in writing before any commitment.
  4. Implementation and ongoing reviews. Accounts transfer in, the plan is put to work, and reviews can include the next generation whenever the family wants them at the table.

Fees are explained on the first call. Most clients pay a transparent asset-based fee, provided in writing before any account is opened.

Working with us from Richmond

Our team is based in Vancouver, about twenty minutes from Richmond City Centre. We meet clients in person or by secure video, and many Richmond families use a mix of both. Kuzyk Private Wealth is based in Vancouver, licensed in British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta, and typically serves clients with $500,000 or more in investable assets. We do not serve residents of Quebec.

Why the team operates through Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc.

Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc. is an independent Canadian dealer regulated by CIRO, the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization, and a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. For business families, independence means the advice is separate from the institutions that hold your operating credit, and the platform includes asset classes beyond the typical bank shelf. CIPF membership protects client accounts within prescribed limits if the member firm becomes insolvent. Registration can be verified through CIRO’s AdvisorReport.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Richmond?

We are based in Vancouver and serve Richmond clients in person or by secure video. There is no Richmond branch office.

We are planning to pass our business to our children. Where does a wealth manager fit?

Succession is a legal and tax project, but it is also a retirement funding question: once the business changes hands, what do the parents live on? We model that side, coordinate with your accountant and lawyer on structure, and manage the capital that funds the family’s next chapter.

Most of our wealth is in property. Why would we need investment management?

Real estate builds wealth but does not always produce flexible retirement income, and selling on a deadline can be costly. A liquid, diversified portfolio alongside the property gives you income you can adjust, and options when the time comes to transition properties or fund the estate.

What is your typical client size?

We typically serve households with $500,000 or more in investable assets, across personal, corporate and trust accounts.

Who regulates Kuzyk Private Wealth?

Kuzyk Private Wealth is a trade name of Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc., which is regulated by CIRO, the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization, and is a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund.

Can more than one generation of our family work with the same team?

Yes, and for business families it usually helps. When the same team understands the parents’ retirement plan, the company’s succession path and the children’s starting position, the pieces are planned together instead of colliding later. Each generation has its own accounts and its own confidential relationship with us.

What does working with you cost?

Most clients pay a transparent fee based on the assets we manage, set out in writing before any account is opened. We explain it on the introductory call, in plain terms.
